Project Overview

In 2021, I organized and facilitated a program in collaboration with Loisaida Inc. and the New
Museum that bridged the gap between art, technology, community engagement, and the art
industry. This initiative empowered youth to explore their creativity, gain hands-on experience in
media production, and thrive in a supportive environment. By addressing community disparities,
the program equipped participants with technical, artistic, and professional skills while fostering
meaningful connections between NYC’s art-based communities, the tech industry, and the
broader art world.

Aspects of the Program

1. New Museum Collaboration

Through this program, youth explored the intersection of art and identity by engaging with Pepón Osorio’s powerful installation, “My Beating Heart” (Mi Corazón Latiente). Participants shared personal stories and expressed their personalities through creative interpretations inspired by the exhibit.

2. Sounds of Loisaida

The Sounds of Loisaida program brought music to life by highlighting community artists and providing hands-on learning experiences for youth. I designed this program to meet the unique needs of Loisaida Inc. and the New Museum while fostering a space for youth to thrive.

  • Weekly Recording Sessions: Coordinated intimate concerts, hosted guest musicians, and captured inspiring interviews.

  • Media Creation: Participants learned to record, edit, and produce high-quality audio and video content, equipping artists with professional media kits while sharing their stories and music with the community.
